After graduation from IMS I attended EMU for two years then spent a great year in Holland with
Intermenno Exchange Program. The following year Bernie Bowman, who I met at EMU, were married. Years since have taken
us to Harrisonburg, Virginia for a year then on to VS in Washington D.C. where we were Host and Hostess at the International
Guest House. It was an interesting time of meeting internationals and feeling the pulse of the Nixon impeachment
hearings. From there we moved back to Iowa to be near my aging parents. Our daughter Meg was born in Iowa and
we adopted John from South Korea. I was basically a stay at home mom during the kids growing up years in
Mt. Vernon volunteering in lots of their activities. Bernie's career then took us to Maryville, TN with the Smokey Mountains
at our doorstep. We had camped there once on our way to Iowa and I thought then they were the most gorgeous Mountains I
had ever seen never thinking we would one day live there. Our kids are both married now. John to a gal with
roots in Iowa and they live in TN and Meg lives in Chicago married to a guy she met in grad school.
I continue to volunteer with United Way, at church and community functions. I have not kept up with classmates,
which is my loss, but I do look back at those years as having been great years in so many ways. If any of you come
to this area please give me a call. I would love to catch up.
