I married my high school sweetheart, Jan Kauffman, on June
22, 1968 and spent two years in voluntary service in Mobile, Alabama. There,
we were unit leaders and I was employed in shipping and receiving at Mobile Hospital. I also provided leadership at the local Boy’s
Club.
Upon returning to Kalona, I've worn several hats. I worked with my Dad and brother
in the water well service, bought the business and was known as Miller the Driller. During that time, I served five
years on the Iowa Water Well Association. In 1986, I became a realtor and thus discovered the hat I really like, and
that's buying, fixing up and selling mobile home parks.
We attend Fairview Mennonite Church where I’ve served as worship leader many years, as well as multiple other church functions among them youth pastor
and junior-high youth camp directors. In addition, I’ve served on the building
committee and school board of Pathway Christian School. We consider ourselves to be very blessed indeed. We have five grown children
and thirteen grandchildren. We have enjoyed ski trips to Wisconsin, Vermont and several times to Colorado with the whole family. We enjoy
traveling, and with a flexible schedule, we’ve been able to be involved with numerous short-term mission endeavors. My passion is learning to KNOW and experience God on a daily basis and to share that passion with
others.
